Three Cash App rails, three formulas

Instant: max($0.25, amount x instant%). Business receive: amount x 2.75%. Card-funded send: amount x 3%. Standard bank cash-out is $0 and is not a mode here.

Default $200 instant at 1.75% is a $3.50 fee. That is a different product from Venmo's published 1.75% with a $25 cap. Use Venmo Fee Calculator when the balance sits in Venmo.

When to switch modes

Use instant when you need the money today and the app shows a percent. Use business when a customer pays a Cash App business account. Use card-send when you are the person funding a payment with a credit card.

Do not stack business receive and instant in one run. Cash out remaining balance as a second calculation after you know the receive net.

What this worksheet skips

ATM owner fees, Bitcoin spread, and foreign-transaction percent are not modeled. Direct deposit ATM reimbursements depend on your account, not this form.

Invoices on Square use a different online rate. Open Square Invoice Fee Calculator for 3.3% + $0.30 card invoices.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is the instant percent an input?

Cash App does not publish one flat instant rate for every account. The app quotes a percent, commonly between 0.5% and 1.75%, with a $0.25 minimum. Paste the percent you see. Default is 1.75%.

What is the default $200 instant result?

1.75% of $200 is $3.50, above the $0.25 floor, so the fee is $3.50 and $196.50 remains. A $10 instant transfer at 1.75% would be $0.18, billed as $0.25.

Who pays the 2.75% business fee?

The seller. A $200 business receive costs $5.50 and nets $194.50. Personal P2P receive from a balance or bank is $0 and should not use business mode.

Does Cash App cap instant fees like Venmo?

This page does not apply a $25 cap. Venmo publishes min $0.25 and max $25. Cash App has not published that ceiling. If your app shows a different quote, trust the app.
