Magazines quote per-word rates. SEO briefs cap at 1,500 words. Social captions have soft limits. This counter updates live: words, characters with and without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, and reading time at 200 wpm.

When to rerun the counter
Rerun after every substantive edit, not after typo fixes that do not change word count. Reading time matters for audio scripts and slide decks where minutes equal studio cost.
Paragraph count jumps when you add blank lines between sections. That is intentional: web readers scan vertical rhythm.

How are words counted?
Words are whitespace-separated tokens after trimming leading and trailing space. "hello world" is 2 words. Multiple spaces between words count as one separator. Empty input is 0 words.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time = word count divided by 200 words per minute, rounded up to whole minutes. Under 200 words shows "< 1 min". Blog editors often use 200 to 250 wpm; this page uses 200.
What counts as a sentence or paragraph?
Sentences split on . ! ? with non-empty segments. One line with no ending punctuation still counts as 1 sentence. Paragraphs are blocks separated by a blank line (double newline).
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
